Significance of 1521
A Caribbean Island, originally named Borinquen by its indigenous Taino culture, was renamed San Juan Bautista immediately following its first colonization during the late 15th century. A treasure (for its strategic location) the island and its now infamous fortresses would later help protect two separate special interest nations against centuries-old threats.
The second colonization would come 405 years later and remains active through present day. But despite the ideologies brought onto the island by foreign nations, and having never had pure sovereignty of their own, the great people of this land celebrate their culture more proud or at least as profound as any other sovereign nation equipped with a self-legislation proclamation. Puerto Rico was the formal name given to this wonderland and enchanted island back in 1521.
…And the Lighthouse
Surrounded by the Atlantic Ocean, it was improbable for goods to be transported in and out of the island of Puerto Rico during the 19th century. A master plan emerged to build a large number of lighthouses, strategically fixed in remote areas along the coastline in an effort to enable maritime trade The lighthouses were not built as isolated towers, but instead constructed near or at the same residential location as the families who operated them. This was practical given the lack of infrastructure, and provided safety and comfort.
The architectural style, elegant lines, detailed spiral staircases, and order of lenses used for each lighthouse captivates the creative nature of these landmarks and the impressions they instill even today. We built our 1521 candle line in an effort to comfort you through your everyday storms and stressors.

Safety is priority numero uno. You must follow these simple candle care instructions. These steps will help you keep your candle flames under control, reduce soot from developing in your vessel, minimize wick mushroom effects, keep your vessel from getting too hot, and increase the longevity of your luxe candles.
Place your candle on a stable, flat, heat resistant surface and away from flammable items.
Trim candle wick to 1/4” before each use to keep the wax clean.
Avoid burning your candle for more than 4 hours at a time.
Always allow enough time for the candle wax to melt from the edges to avoid tunneling.
Never leave a burning candle unattended, always extinguish fully, and never extinguish with water.
Always keep well out of reach of children and pets.
